ANNOTATED LIST OF LITERATURE
In the present issue, a list of papers concerning Saturniidae,
published during 19971998, is given. This list was compiled also with
the help of Dr S. Naumann, Dr R. S. Peigler and Valerie
A. Passoa. News on additional papers are welcome!
Dr. R. S. Peigler suggests to include the address
of the author under each article reported. So, it will be possible to write
to the author for a reprint.

All the 23 Saturniidae species
known to occur in the Philippines are decribed and illustrated with comments
for each taxon. Six new taxa (2 new species and 4 new subspecies) are described.
A lectotype is designed as well as a taxonomical change.

SHORT NOTES
A NEW RECORD OF ACTIAS RHODOPNEUMA
RÖBER, 1925 FROM CENTRAL LAOS (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae)
Roberto Vinciguerra, Via XX Settembre
64, I-90141 Palermo, Italy
The genus Actias Leach, 1815 contains
ca. 2025 species (Nässig & Treadaway 1998; S. Naumann pers. com.)
widespread in North and Central America, SW Europe and Asia. At present,
the African genus Argema Wallengren, 1858 is considered as a distinct
genus (see Nässig & Treadaway 1998). The genus Actias may
be divided in six species-groups (S. Naumann pers. com.).
Actias rhodopneuma is known
from India, China, Burma and Thailand (Pinratana & Lampe 1990). This
species is here reported for the first time for central Laos, from two
male specimens from Luang Prabang, 2000 m, VI. 1997.
Acknowledgements: Special
thanks are due to Dr. S. Naumann for useful information.

in Saturniidae.
Contributions to the newsletter
in form of short notes, rewiews, letters, field observations, news and
information are welcome.

Guests
Within the Saturnia
website (www.saturnia.de), guests may present their own pages
concerning their own studies on Saturniidae or other bombycoid moths, autobibliography,
research requests and other subjects.
Regarding any submissions for inclusion
here please contact Wolfgang A. Nässig via e-mail (
)
and send files on disk or as e-mail attachment. Space is somehow limited,
so include only small illustration files (only .gif or .jpg, and not too
big in total). All files will be slightly edited to match up with the standards
of the Saturnia site and transformed into HTML by W.A.N. Copyright and
sole responsibility for the contents remain with the author.
